2009 Summer National Senior Games at Stanford – Swimming Competition

One of my TCAM teammates won TWO GOLD MEDALS… (2)! We swim at the same time of day, though in different lanes. We chit chat in the locker room, and Sissy always has a sweet smile on her beautiful face and never fails to offer kind words to all of us on deck. She’s also one of the few people that can give our coach a hard time and get away with it. She’s my favorite 70+ year-old DOUBLE GOLD MEDAL WINNER.

One of my actual lane mates got a 4th place in the 100 freestyle… 4th place!  Unfortunately, she had to beat two other women from our team who normally swim faster than she does. But, I’m pretty sure they were both happy for her.

This was one of the most inspirational days of my life.  I can only hope I’m still swimming and competing into my 90s, like many of the folks I saw today.

I just got home and am beginning the process of uploading pix off the cards and onto the computer and can’t wait to share some images with you.

    Your photos clearly and beautifully show the sheer joy felt by the swimmers. They are fantastic (both the swimmers and your photos!) I’m looking forward to seeing more… especially the ones of the cheering timer (me)!!!
