All A’ Twitter Over Swimming
I can’t help myself. I tweet daily – do you? (http://twitter.com/MastersSwimmers or @MastersSwimmers).
Seriously, I love Twitter. For one, it’s easy. It’s not like programming a VCR. (Those still exist, right?) Hanging in Twitter is a bit like being at a really cool party and eavesdropping on interesting conversations, or joining in. It’s easy to move on from the folks who are intent on telling you what they’re up to every given moment in a day. (Do I really need to know you just drank a glass of OJ or you had one too many chili fries?) Listen, you just keep scrolling – or better yet, stop “following” folks who tweet ceaselessly about absolutely nothing.
I’ve found some very interesting information via Twitter, things I probably never would have found on my own. The trick, I believe, is to follow an eclectic mix of people. One of my favorites is @lauralsweet who, with her blog and links, informs her “followers” about what’s hip in the world of art, design, fashion, marketing and more. Through her tweets, I’ve discovered swimming pool art to stunning silver c-prints by Guido Argentini to SwimCapsByFran and a world of interesting things in between. It almost goes without saying that you can find links to wonderful swimming videos and news throughout the twitterverse.
On the flip side… is it just me, or does anyone else find it slightly weird that Dara Torres tweeted even as she was being wheeled into surgery?! Possibly TMI.
