Between The Pickles and Parmesan
Posted by tracyb under Swimming Miscellanea, Swimming News
Somewhere between the pickles and Parmesan, a woman asked, “Are you an athlete? You’re a swimmer aren’t you? She said I “looked athletic and had a glow” about me. My hair was dry by the time I stopped in the market after my Masters swimming workout, so that couldn’t have tipped her off.
(And here I thought I had an essence of pout due to my seriously aching shoulder.)
One of the countless benefits of being a U.S. Masters Swimmer – strangers stopping you to comment on your healthy glow!

That is fantastic; what a great compliment.
I’m much more in tune with age group swimming than masters at this point and have been trying to see if there is any sort of body type that swims faster. Maybe I’ll stop trying to find a shape and start looking for a glow.
And, yes, as a parent I have way too much downtime at these meets.

This story is completely useless without pictures of the woman in question. And don’t even try to use the \"I didn’t have my camera\" excuse, because we all know that you ALWAYS have your camera.

Wait, what? Are you asking for a self-portrait or a picture of the woman who offered the compliment? Or the jars of pickles? I actually didn’t have my camera with me – it was in the car.

I believe there is a body type that swims faster – it’s called “bean pole”!
