I’m still nursing the torn biceps tendon in the shoulder (SLAP Lesion – Superior Labrum from Anterior to Posterior) so I decided to head to Paris. Why feel sorry for myself at home when I can do it with baguettes and cheese over here? I return to the U.S. and to the orthopaedist shortly and will report [...]

After much debate, bringing swimming (swimwear actually) into conversations around the dining table, water cooler, on the pool deck, as well as in the national and international media, FINA finalized their approved swimsuit list. Personally, I spend my money on camera gear, but for those interested – and there are many of you I know – [...]

Is It 2010 Yet?

Posted by tracyb on December 22, 2009 at 8:39 am

November and December have been a blur of deadlines, mishaps, broken body parts, doctors’ appointments, the flu, snow, loss of electrical power, satellite internet outtages … and sadly, very little swimming. Many of my fellow swimmers at Tuolumne County Aquatics Masters (TCAM) are now enjoying their 2010 TCAM calendar… a gift created as a small [...]

Dear Santa, I Changed My Mind

I had an entire list of fun swimming-related toys, books, paraphernalia to text at you for my 2009 Christmas wish list, such as… a lap counter  Hello! I’ve been known to lose count after 3 laps. a copy of “Swimming Anatomy” by Ian McLeod. USMS Marin Pirates swim coach, Cokie Lepinski, recommended this incredible book [...]

US Masters Swim Calendar

Posted by tracyb on November 17, 2009 at 8:54 am

I am still alive. I plan to wrap up the Tuolumne County Masters Aquatics 2010 calendar today, and I will have a life again. In fact, after I toss this cantankerous, s-l-o-w Dell computer out the window, I will attend the Pacific Masters Swimming annual meeting / potluck at Heather Farms in Walnut Creek. Here [...]

2010 – The Year of the Swim Meet

Posted by tracyb on November 10, 2009 at 7:11 am

Injuries and a heavy workload prevented me from competing in triathlons this past season. (Remember, I came to U.S. Masters swimming to feel more confident in the swim portion of triathlons.) This change of plans had me hanging out at the pool more than normal which allowed me to get to know some fun, interesting [...]
