How To Breathe Properly While Swimming Freestyle
Posted by tracyb under Swimming Tips
To all those people who say Twitter is a waste of time or energy… think again. The Swim Channel recently tweeted a link to a wonderfully informative video about how to breathe properly while swimming freestyle. While watching the video, I thought of my buddy Rebecca, who is an outstanding athlete and a new U.S. Masters Swimmer with “breathing issues.”
I’m currently one of those swimmers who “checks the weather” while breathing, but you can bet I’m going to try out the video’s techniques at today’s workout.
Check out the video here.

Hey! Thanks for the video! It’s great, and I have something new to work on….(checked the weather lateley?) hahahaha

I’ve been watching the entire DVD, Personal Best Freestyle with Michael Phelps, Bob Bowman and Katie Hoff. It is extremely helpful, loaded with good tips.
I use bilateral breathing, breathing every third stroke. For me, that seems to be just enough air. At times I’ll double up on the right side, if I need more air.
