Rowdy Weekend in Florida

So, Cokie Lepinski and other Northern California U.S. Masters swimmers weren’t the only ones setting records over the weekend. Three-time Olympic gold medallist Rowdy Gaines broke two world records in the Rowdy Gaines Masters Classic. According to the Florida newspaper, The Ledger, Gaines set records in the men's age 50-54, 50- and 100-meter freestyles. The previous record in the 50-meter free for that age group was 23.97. Gaines swam it in 23.28 on Sunday. On Saturday, he swam the 100 in 51.61, breaking the old world record of 54.29. Gaines won gold medals at the 1984 Olympics, is an ambassador for swimming, and he worked tirelessly to bring the 2016 Olympics to Chicago. His charitable organization, Rowdy's ...
