Tomorrow’s Swimmers Today

Last week I promised one of the coaches I would take photos of her Tuolumne County Aquatics (TCA) kids’ “mini-meet.” Our pool often holds mini-meets for our Masters Swimmers (USMS) as well as the kids’ swim team. A club mini-meet is simply a swim meet held at our pool for our swimmers only. It’s a great lead-in to a sanctioned swim meet. It’s also a great way to gauge your improvement, and it generates fun competition and camaraderie among teammates. There is tremendous support and enthusiasm at these things.

If you’ve never competed in a swim meet before, this is the place to start. There’s truly no pressure, unless, of course, it’s self-imposed. It’s also a great place to practice your starts.

Though I had great difficulty holding my camera (remember that breaststroke-inflicted injury mentioned below?), I think I was able capture some of the enthusiasm.
