Congratulations U.S. Masters Swimmer Cokie Lepinski for setting a World Record in the 100 breaststroke at the Pacific Masters Short Course Meters Championships!!! Here is what Cokie did in Walnut Creek:
- 7 swims
- 4 lifetime bests
- 1 World Record*
- 1 Pacific Masters record
- 5 First places
- 2 Second places (I’m pretty sure the woman who beat her in at least one of these races was much, much younger)
- Her new team, Marin Pirates Masters, with only 3 swimmers - placed 18th out of 43 teams
How does Cokie feel about all of this? To quote her Facebook status, “OMG 10,000 times… Coaching is awesome!”
Indeed Cokie – You are awesome!
*Update – Cokie has notified me that apparently the software at Walnut Creek was outdated. She has been informed that her World record is "only" a National record in the 100 Breast. Still a wonderful accomplishment worth celebrating!
Apparently this may be Nancy Ridout masquerading as Cokie :0)

Tracy – thanks for the photos – all are very cool! I think the dive pic must be someone else though. While I did have that suit, I wasn’t on any relays and no one would have been in the water while I was competing. I think it might be Nancy Ridout from TAM masters. She had the same suit, and she was on a relay I think. It is actually great form for the dive, too! Your photos rock! I was too busy to take any, but I sure wanted to. This weekend I’m going to go to a kids meet and shoot away!
